Kelly A. Skalicky – Counsel

Kelly Skalicky is Counsel to Tarter Krinsky & Drogin’s Banking and Finance Practice Group. She focuses her practice on banking and regulatory compliance, secured transactions and commercial finance, loan workouts and debt restructuring, creditor’s rights and remedies, and litigation.

With more than 17 years of experience in banking and finance, Ms. Skalicky has represented banks in the negotiation and documentation of complex loans and restructuring of secured commercial finance transactions, including residential and commercial developments, equipment leasing and receivable financing, creditor participants and government-guaranty loans. Her accomplishments include:

  • Serving as lead attorney for a National Bank with more than $1 billion in assets in the acquisition and servicing of a $730 million loan portfolio from the FDIC, and in restructuring and enforcing secured creditor’s rights and remedies and selling distressed loans and acquired real estate.
  • Representing a National Bank following the acquisition of several failed financial institutions from the FDIC, specifically: analyzing acquired loans and ORE, drafting workout and forbearance agreements; advising the bank on secured/unsecured rights and remedies; identifying and correcting title issues relating to foreclosures and acquired collateral; and managing delinquent loans and local counsel in default, foreclosure and bankruptcy litigation.
  • Representing banks and private companies in contract and acquisition transactions, regulatory compliance, litigation, and consulting and employment contracts.

Ms. Skalicky is a member of the New York City and New York State Bar Associations, the Minnesota State Bar Association and the American Bar Association.

Prior to joining Tarter Krinsky & Drogin, Ms. Skalicky was Counsel in the New York City office of Stetson Law Offices, P.C., where she developed a practice in Indian law and tribal financing and economic development. For nine years, she was Counsel to Stearns Bank, N.A., a nationwide lender focusing on commercial construction and residential development projects, including affordable housing, small business lending, equipment leasing and factoring. Earlier in her career, she was an Associate at Gover, Stetson & Williams, P.C., in Albuquerque. She began her career as an Associate at Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi in Minneapolis, following her two-year judicial clerkship for The Honorable Judge Michael J. Davis, currently Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court in Minnesota.

In her spare time, Ms. Skalicky enjoys spending time with her daughter, walking her dog and playing contract bridge. She is an enthusiastic member of the American Contract Bridge League.
