William W. Weisner – Partner

William W. Weisner is a Partner in the Real Estate, Construction, and Banking and Finance Practice Groups at Tarter Krinsky & Drogin LLP. He handles a wide variety of commercial real estate matters for lenders, developers, investors, landlords and tenants nationwide, as well as not-for-profit entities. His practice encompasses financings, workouts and restructurings, leases, partnerships and joint ventures, and development projects.

Mr. Weisner’s broad lending experience covers complex construction, term and mezzanine loans, syndications and purchases of co-lending interests, and loan participations. He frequently advises clients on the acquisition and sale of properties, and represents owners in negotiation of design and construction contracts for development of commercial property. Mr. Weisner’s work in leasing involves office and retail properties and reaches across the United States.

In every aspect of his practice, Mr. Weisner focuses on designing creative yet practical and efficient solutions to real estate issues and client needs. He represents several European-based clients and is particularly attuned to their distinctive requirements for U.S.-based transactions.

Notable transactions handled by Mr. Weisner include representing:

  • An owner in obtaining a $73.5 million loan for the buy-out of a partner in a midtown Manhattan office building, creation of a master lease structure and tenancy-in-common ownership, and repayment of the existing loan.
  • A leading software company in the construction of a 400,000-square-foot U.S. headquarters building, including site acquisition and negotiation of design agreements and construction contracts, and subsequent construction of an additional 200,000-square-foot office building.
  • The seller of a portfolio of office and retail properties throughout the East Coast containing 700,000 square-feet of space.
  • A bank in the workout of loans on two Manhattan office buildings, involving deed in lieu of foreclosure and subsequent sale of properties.
  • Several lenders in connection with originations of loans and purchases of co-lending and participation interests in loans secured by office, industrial and multi-family properties throughout the U.S.
  • A pharmaceutical company in leases of entire buildings for their U.S. headquarters location.
  • Currently serving as a receiver of an office building on Fifth Avenue in NYC which is the subject of a mortgage foreclosure, responsible for all aspects of property ownership and management.

Mr. Weisner co-authored “Notices of Pendency: Protecting Sellers in Contracts for the Sale and Purchase of Real Property” in the New York Real Property Law Journal (Fall 2009), “Anti-Terrorism Law Imposes Duties” in the New York Law Journal (November 25, 2002) and “What to Expect When A Receiver Takes Over A Troubled Property (With Mortgage Foreclosure Receiver’s Checklist)” in The Practical Real Estate Lawyer (September 2011).

Mr. Weisner is a member of the New York State Bar Association (Real Property Law Section, Committees on Leasing, Construction and Finance), the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, the Mortgage Bankers Association and CoreNet Global. He serves on the Board of Directors of Sheldrake Environmental Center in Larchmont, New York. In addition, he has been repeatedly named as a leading real estate lawyer in the New York Metro edition of Super Lawyers magazine and has earned Martindale Hubbell’s highest rating (AV®).
