Eric Zipkowitz is a Partner in the Real Estate, Construction, and Banking and Finance Practice Groups at Tarter Krinsky & Drogin LLP. He represents real estate developers, not-for-profit entities and corporate clients in the acquisition, financing, construction and development of commercial, residential and mixed-use projects. These projects include shopping centers, hotels, sports and entertainment facilities, educational facilities, office buildings, residential towers, museums and warehouse facilities.
Much of Mr. Zipkowitz’s practice focuses on representing owners and developers in large-scale construction projects and sophisticated financing transactions. He is recognized for his extensive experience in drafting and negotiating architect’s, contractor’s and other construction-related contracts, and is often called upon to help in the non-judicial resolution of construction disputes.
Mr. Zipkowitz’s significant transactions include representing:
- One of the largest property owners and developers in the United States in connection with the rehabilitation and construction of enhancements at several New York City landmark buildings and tourist centers, as well as large-scale construction projects in India and China.
- Two of the largest art museums on the East Coast in connection with extensive construction renovations and expansions.
- A professional sports franchise in the negotiation of architect’s and construction management agreements in connection with a new state-of-the-art East Coast sports stadium.
- An international media and communications company in the drafting and negotiation of architectural and construction agreements in connection with the construction of a world headquarters office tower in New York City.
- Developers in all construction-related agreements for ground-up construction of luxury residential and mixed-use towers on the East and West Coasts.
- Owners and corporate institutions in the acquisitions, financing and redevelopment of numerous office towers in New York City and throughout the United States.
Mr. Zipkowitz was named a top attorney in the New York City area for 2010 and 2011 by the publishers of Super Lawyers.
A frequent speaker to both construction industry professionals and attorney groups, Mr. Zipkowitz has lectured at symposiums and continuing education programs sponsored by the New York City Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association (Real Property Law Section).
Mr. Zipkowitz received a B.A. in English from Queens College, City University of New York in 1986, where he was a Renaissance Scholar. He received a J.D. in 1989 from Fordham University School of Law, cum laude, where he received a Gold Medal for Constitutional Law. He is admitted to practice in New York.
