Court Declines To Void TKD Client's Deed To Property

A foreign government commenced a federal court action seeking to cancel a 2004 deed to our client. The deed conveyed an empty lot owned by the foreign government that was adjacent to the residence of its ambassador to the United Nations. The foreign government alleged that the deed should be cancelled because it was a forgery and the transaction violated the Foreign Missions Act. TKD lawyers Edward Finkelstein and Andrew Krinsky persuaded the Court to hold that the deed was not a forgery, but rather the issue was whether the person who signed on its behalf had authority to do so. In a holding of first impression, the Court also held that sale was not void under the Foreign Missions Act.
