Client’s Plans for Athletic Field Approved
The New Rochelle Planning Board has approved Iona College’s plan to renovate an existing athletic field as a women’s softball field with a permanent backstop. Approval was granted at a hearing on June 26, 2007 after expiration of a 90-day moratorium on projects involving the improvement of residentially-zoned land for athletic fields.
TKD partner Anthony Dougherty represented Iona College before the Planning Board in the face of heavy opposition from residents of the neighborhood adjacent to the field. The board’s decision affirmed the college’s "as of right" to develop campus property in furtherance of its educational purposes.
