Tarter Krinsky & Drogin Partner Laurent S. Drogin recently gave a presentation on “Written Performance Evaluations:  Best Practices and Avoiding Legal Pitfalls” at the New York office of one of the nation’s top CPA and advisory firms.

Addressing a group of managers and supervisors, Mr. Drogin discussed the problems that can result from an incomplete or inconsistent evaluation, particularly if an evaluation becomes part of the record in an employment dispute. “They are as damning as emails you wish you had never sent,” he noted. Mr. Drogin outlined best practices for managers and supervisors to follow in writing evaluations, including how to handle both positive and negative comments about employees’ performance.
