Our Services
Tarter Krinsky & Drogin LLP regularly represents colleges, foundations, supporting organizations, religious institutions, charities and related entities. We deal with federal tax issues such as filing for 501(c)(3) status and identifying what constitutes unrelated business income, state pecuniary benefit rules and reporting, the special rules pertaining to local real estate tax exemption for not-for-profits, and have working relationships with the state agencies that deal with not-for-profit institutions. Our attorneys have successfully represented our clients before federal and state courts on various employment law issues. In addition, we have successfully represented our clients before state and federal agencies such as the New York State Division of Human Rights vs. Department of Education Office of Civil Rights, and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Our clients include higher education foundations, independent, nationally recognized colleges and universities, as well as smaller, private preparatory and post-secondary institutions. The firm also defends local and regional religious entities against tort liability claims.
