Anchin’s Future Forward 2021 Conference brought together major players in the construction community to discuss the future of development and design in New York City. On February 9, Construction Partner and Chair David Pfeffer moderated the panel, “How COVID will Permanently Impact Office Design and Workplace Strategies of the Future.” David explores the panel’s key takeaways below.
Tom Vecchione, Principal at Vocon, noted that there are emerging priorities and new thoughtful considerations to office space related to the company at large. Linda Foggie, VP & Leader of the New York office at Turner & Townsend, elaborated further, saying that new office concerns and inquiries for companies include flexibility, security, resources and company culture.
Mitchel Simpler, Partner at Jaros Baum & Bolles, explained that innovation in technology, design and construction is paving the way forward to safer buildings and office environments for all employees. The intersection of these industries means new possibilities for what an office will look like and how it will function outside the traditional office realm.
Jonathan Ratner, MD at Madison Capital, shared that real estate assets are being repositioned for new opportunities and expanding capabilities. Tenants seek creative planning of office environments for today’s environment, including alternatives to a traditional layout and building offerings such as private entrances and amenities.
