Short-term rental popularity has increased exponentially due to hosting platforms such as Airbnb, VRBO, Getaway, and Booking.com, among others. Property owners, and even leaseholders, recognize the ease of renting their residence to vacationers and business travelers to supplement their income. However, as this market grows, unanticipated issues arise causing cities and states to wrestle on how to best regulate the issues raised by short-term occupancy.
