Since December 27, 2021, by an Order of the Commissioner of Health and Mental Hygiene, New York City workers have been required to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 before entering the workplace. Employers were prohibited from allowing unvaccinated workers to work at their workplace absent an exception or reasonable accommodation, in addition to complying with posting and record-keeping requirements.
This week, it was announced that the New York City vaccination mandate for private sector workplaces will end on November 1, 2022. The City is, however, encouraging private businesses to promote vaccines, boosters, and implement their own vaccine policies.
