NEW YORK – June 16, 2022 – Tarter Krinsky & Drogin’s Construction Practice will sponsor and speak at the National Charter Schools Conference taking place in Washington, D.C. June 19-22.

The National Charter Schools Conference, hosted by the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools, brings together top charter school educators, advocates, and leaders to collaborate and discuss the latest trends affecting charter school education.

David J. Pfeffer, a partner and chair of the Firm’s Construction Practice, will present the solution session titled “Designing & Building Your New School -- Avoiding Risks & Pitfalls” on Monday, June 20 at 1:30 p.m. During the session, Mr. Pfeffer will discuss the complex process of designing and building a new school and provide takeaways on how to best avoid risks and pitfalls in the road to a finished project. A business partner to his clients, Mr. Pfeffer regularly works with real estate owners and developers and educational institutions on all aspects of their construction, development, real estate, and business needs.

On Tuesday, June 21 at 11:00 a.m., Partner Sean T. Scuderi will deliver a solution session titled “How to be a Good Neighbor: Protecting Adjacent Properties During Construction.” This session will cover what developing owners should know about neighboring construction matters before breaking ground – including their protection obligations of neighboring properties, devoting sufficient time to negotiate access to avoid delay, and budgeting for the expenses involved – and how to prepare and handle these situations. Mr. Scuderi will draw from his experience representing owners, developers, non-profit entities, and schools through every phase of the design and construction process, from negotiating construction agreements to handling complex disputes.

The Construction Practice, serving as a partner to educational institutions, healthcare institutions, and non-profit organizations, advises clients on all aspects of their construction, real estate, development, financing, and business matters. The team represents clients in all phases of the construction process, negotiating complex transactions and guiding clients through construction-related disputes.
