On April 30, Labor and Employment chair Laurent Drogin was a featured guest on Lorne Epstein’s You’re Hired radio show where he discussed the salary secrecy laws in New York City, Massachusetts and Philadelphia. Laurent pointed out that while the intended aim of the NYC regulation is to close the gender gap, there are already federal, state and local laws that forbid differential pay based on gender and other protected categories. Although those laws may not be completely successful, he said, they seem to be a more direct path to addressing the issue while the salary secrecy law may have some unintended consequences. The show also aired on WERA.FM 96.7 FM in Arlington, Virginia. To listen to the recording, click here.
