Rocco Cavaliere, Vice Chair of the Firm’s Bankruptcy & Corporate Restructuring Practice, recently spoke with Law360 about Purdue Pharma’s proposed plan incorporating a $7.4 billion settlement with the company’s owners in an effort to address Purdue Pharma’s opioid claims.
Rocco discussed the changes to Purdue’s plan in response to a recent Supreme Court decision that rejected Purdue Pharma’s prior plan that contemplated nonconsensual releases of third-party claims against nondebtors, adding that “the settlements that have been reached here among all the states and a number of important private interests were negotiated at arms' length for many, many months.”
