Press Release

Tarter Krinsky & Drogin’s Bankruptcy & Corporate Restructuring Practice Co-Chair Scott S. Markowitz will be a featured speaker at Bisnow’s New York Hotel & Hospitality Conference: Development, Investment & Elevating The Guest Experience, taking place at the New York Marriott Marquis on July 25. The Firm will serve as a sponsor of the event.
Markowitz will speak on the “Hotel Investment: Transactions & Capital Markets” panel, which will focus on the economic impacts on transaction volume, as well as which types of hotels are changing hands and what this says about the value of hotel assets in New York. Markowitz has particular experience handling Chapter 11 cases for hotels, most recently helping a client, the owner of the Holiday Inn Financial District, secure a contract with the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation to provide much-needed housing and food to asylum seekers.
According to Bisnow, the event will feature developers, hotel owners, investors, designers, and city officials who will discuss the future of hotel development and investment activity. Attendees will learn how the hotel industry is navigating this choppy market while ensuring the supply and demand dynamics are ready for when the market normalizes.
As co-chair of the Firm's Bankruptcy & Corporate Restructuring Practice, Markowitz focuses on debtor and creditors’ rights, bankruptcy, and out-of-court workouts. He counsels clients on Chapter 11 reorganizations, Chapter 7 proceedings, financial restructuring, out-of-court debt composition and settlements, and creates strategies for dealing with financially troubled entities.
