Press Release

NEW YORK – March 15, 2023 – Tarter Krinsky & Drogin‘s nationally-recognized Construction Practice expands with the addition of Brian J. Markowitz as a partner in the New York office.
Markowitz brings two decades of experience to the award-winning team, enhancing the group’s wide-ranging capabilities for their construction and development clients. Along with his traditional transactional work in these fields, Markowitz has vast experience in construction litigation, enabling him to view cases through the lens of risk management and avoiding potential liability for his clients.
“Our team takes great pride in producing high-caliber work that allows our clients’ development projects to come to fruition throughout the city. Brian is well-known in the industry for his tenacious approach to work on behalf of his clients, and we’re thrilled to add his expertise to our team,” said Chair of the Construction Practice David J. Pfeffer.
“We have built our reputation on delivering high-quality service that drives the success of our clients’ many significant projects, and adding Brian to the team continues this tradition. Combining his litigation and transactional experience with ours will help further cement our place in the industry,” added Vice Chair Sean T. Scuderi.
The Construction Practice focuses on working closely with owners, developers, and construction managers on a wide range of construction and development matters. Markowitz has created strong connections with his clients in these fields, working closely with them on an array of issues. Over the past few years, he has worked with clients on a number of affordable housing projects throughout the five boroughs, further expanding the team’s reach in the New York City market.
“Our Construction team is consistently recognized throughout the industry for their leadership and innovation. Under David and Sean’s direction, the team embodies our Firm’s commitment to success and Brian’s addition serves as an example of this,” said Managing Partner Alan M. Tarter. “I am confident that the Construction Group will continue to break barriers in the industry for our clients and I’m excited to see what they accomplish next.”
Prior to joining Tarter Krinsky & Drogin, Markowitz was a partner at Goldstein Hall and has worked on significant large projects and buildings throughout New York. He focuses his practice on construction disputes, contract negotiations, and commercial and real estate litigation. He regularly negotiates multi-million-dollar contracts, working with clients to mitigate their risks and exposure to litigation during the contract phase. Additionally, he has experience resolving issues related to mechanics liens, construction defect claims, adjacent landlord issues, and co-op and condo disputes.
“I’ve always believed that construction is one of the best areas of law to be in – not only does it enable you to work on everything from transactions to litigation and negotiations, but success in this field is tangible, as we get to see our client’s projects come to life,” Markowitz said. “Now, at Tarter Krinsky & Drogin, I have the chance to join this well-renowned team where I can offer my clients a larger platform of service and continue to add value to their many projects in development.”
