Steve Troup is a retired counsel and the former chair of the Firm's Cooperative and Condominium Practice. As counsel to approximately 60 residential and mixed-use cooperative corporations and condominium associations, he advised on cooperative and condominium law, governance issues, construction issues, financing and litigation, arbitration, and mediation. Steve also represented clients in the purchase, sale, and financing of residential and commercial properties.
Acting as a trusted advisor, Steve counseled small businesses, serving their contract, financing, corporate, and related needs.
A trained mediator, Steve served on the panel of the Co-op/Condo Dispute Resolution Project of the New York City Bar Association. Steve also conducted private mediation work.
Representative Matters:
- Obtained full insurance coverage and an award of all attorneys’ fees for a co-op client from five carriers in a complex intentional tort litigation.
- Negotiated significant concessions from an investor who bought co-op apartments in bulk.
- Successfully navigated a sponsor default that resulted in his co-op client obtaining 16 previously sponsor-owned apartments without payment.
- Represented numerous clients in connection with the purchase of high-end residential Manhattan properties in excess of $30 million.

- Member and Counsel, Save the Inn, a committee of private citizens which won a reversal of opinion by the County Commissioners and County Engineer of Delaware County, New York, to revise a proposed bridge replacement project and saved a 200 year old mill turned bed and breakfast, Halcottsville, New York (2008-2010)
