On November 13, Amy Goldsmith presented a National Academy of Continued Legal Education webinar on “Privacy, Data Security and Cyberattacks.” The course provided an in-depth discussion on what law firms can do to protect their information.
Law firms hold a significant amount of data, including personally identifiable information on clients and sensitive, confidential information. Protecting information in a law firm is paramount and attorneys have an ethical obligation to prevent unauthorized access and disclosure. Further, many law firms are subject to hacking and need tangible plans in place to recover from a cyberattack should such an incident occur.
In this CLE course, Amy provided actionable takeaways for training lawyers and staff to recognize common hacking methods and the legal and ethical requirements imposed by many state laws.
