The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced that they are experiencing delays in producing employment authorization and permanent resident cards.

These delays are due to maintenance issues related to the USCIS main card production facility in Corbin, Kentucky. USCIS has transferred the card production process to another facility in Lee's Summit, Missouri. As a result of this transfer, there is now a backlog of cards to be produced. USCIS expects that the backlog will be reduced and resolved sometime in the month of September.

This delay means that although clients will receive standard mail notification that the underlying applications for permanent resident cards or employment authorization have been approved by USCIS, the actual cards will not be received until two or three weeks after approval. In many cases, individuals cannot work or continue to work until these cards are received.
